Hi, I’m Brianna (she/her).
Pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period can be one of the most transformative experiences of our lives. Whether you are coming to parenthood for the first time, or fifth, via any route, having someone walk the path with you is a way to navigate it with confidence and peace.
What does a doula do?
That depends on what you’d like them to do! I have one singular package, which is fully customisable and flexible to your needs. It includes:
- 3 x antenatal visits
- On call to attend you in labour from 37 weeks until your baby is born
- 3 x postnatal visits
- 15 minute catch ups before or after appointments from week 25
- Digital support from week 30 onwards
- Access to my doula library
- Access to my birth tools
Sounds like what you need? Get in touch by email: brianna@happyslinglady.co.uk, or text: 07943 954829
But what actually happens if you’re my doula?!
I’m guided by you, your family and your supporters. We’ll get to know each other to ensure our time is used to leave you feeling confident, informed, and heard.
❤️Have something that’s important to you? I’ll be the champion for it.
❤️Want to find out more about your cultural heritage and birth practices? Let’s research and honour them.
❤️Feel like something isn’t possible because of a disability, or family set up? We’ll investigate workarounds.
❤️Something outside my area? I am connected in a team of different birthworkers to get you the information and support you need.
An antenatal session could include:
- getting to know you and your birth partner
- birth preparation and planning
- an infant feeding workshop
- supporting your birth partner/other children to prepare
- postnatal preparation and planning
- a debrief/3 step rewind session for a previous birth or feeding experience
- a carrying workshop
A postnatal session could include:
- support with feeding
- capturing and recording your birth story
- emotional support and company
- carrying information and practical help
- going with you to groups or activities
How do you know we’d be a good fit?
Well, I love reading, aerial arts and languages. The perinatal period has been a special interest of mine since I first became pregnant in 2014, and the fixation hasn’t diminished yet. As an AuDHD and disabled mother, I have specific understanding and insight into those perinatal experiences.
You are looking for someone to:
- highlight and record the joy of this time
- share information to support your informed decision making
- support your infant feeding journey
- really, truly listen to your hopes, fears and dreams
Before we decide though, it’s important to meet you and your birth supporter(s) in person and see if it feels right. Remember – you’ll be experiencing something powerful and transformative, so being comfortable having me there for that is essential.
We can arrange a meet at your home, or a place that feels comfortable for you. Get in touch by email: brianna@happyslinglady.co.uk, or text: 07943 954829
I’m having a caesarean birth though – is that OK?
I don’t know! It’s your birth – is that OK with you? Do you want to talk about it?
As your doula I am here to support you, however birth looks. That includes thinking about your ideal scenario, and working together (with others supporting you) to make decisions when circumstances change.
